Don’t Let Trayvon Martin become the next Invisible Child
Under no circumstance should a kid be killed in cold blood. I repeat, under NO circumstances should a kid be killed in cold blood.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD A KID BE KILLED IN COLD BLOOD.
I was late to get caught up on the Trayvon Martin tragedy and by the time I did it seemed like it had become the “in” thing to talk about. The new “cause”, the ‘I’m so conscious’ topic of conversation. Everyone was raving mad,the bloggers, civil rights activists, reporters, church folk were all in a unified Mufasa flavored uproar. Pictures and posters of the boy started popping up around cities across the country. The story started getting national coverage by everyone worth being reported on….which means, everyone except for Fox News.
Though the Martin case has become a major national news story, Fox News has dedicated relatively little airtime to covering it. As of Monday at noon, the network had aired just one segment on the case, compared to 41 segments on CNN and 13 on MSNBC. — The Huffington Post
And you know the sh!t done got real when Anderson Cooper jumps on it.
So with all of this coverage in turn I decided to not write on the matter because it was getting enough attention. I figured I had nothing new to say and anything that I’d type here would be just added fodder to the growing pile of pissed pigmented people rallying behind our latest cause for action in a nation that STILL assumes that racism doesn’t exist as long as we have Obama. Sometimes I think that there was a sect of white folk that voted for Obama just to say “There, we did that for you…you happy? You got one, no more race cards…debt paid, keep the ‘change’“…Ya know? I remember even reading blogs and seeing interviews from people swearing up and down that now that Obama is President, Martin Luther King, Jr’s dream is finally complete. Really?
Even though MLK did say that he wanted to live in a world where little black kids and little white kids could hold hands and be friends and that IS part of the world we live in now, but I believe that the message he really wanted to get across was a dream of a world without hate. I mean, that’s the only way true peace could reign right? Having a black president is a great step in the right direction but we still haven’t reached our destination. We get caught up in the fact that on the outside, yes…segregation for the most part is done, interracial couples no longer expect to get (literally) stoned when holding hands in public, music isn’t just “black music” and “white music” anymore, black people can sit anywhere on the bus (white people don’t even ride the bus anymore), our Karate Kid and our Spiderman are black, a ‘white’ woman in a sextape with a black washed up R&B singer gives her a longer untalented time in the limelight than a sextape with a washed up white rocker or a washed up white nobody could and both Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are no where near as pissed as they use to be back when they were relevant, allowing ambulances everywhere to be able to drive just a bit slower than they use to.
Hell even a crazy, alcoholic, public masterbating, nudist white boy can hold all of that crazy white boy zanyness together long enough to get famous for bringing awareness to child soldiers in Africa (KONY: The Invisible Children)…he then, of course lets all of his zany white boy rage out in public, gets caught on camera and is now in rehab..but hey, do you think a crazy, alcoholic, public masterbating, nudist white boy would’ve done that for a bunch of black kids he didn’t know back in the 60s? 70s? Hell, even the 90s?
So, yes..as a country we ARE making progress. The United States of America is a multicultural Crayola themed vomit pool full of all of Mother Nature’s best intentions. But if we ask Sean Bell, Alfred Woodfox, Herman Wallace, Melvin Williams, James Anderson, Oscar Grant, Troy Davis the list goes on and on and on and on like Lamp Chops Play Along’s “Song That Doesn’t End“…this song never ends, Uncle Sam keeps dancing to it and the Statue of Liberty never realizes how off key her tune really is. Hell, did you hear about Phillip Grant? He went on a white people killing spree because he wanted to die (he asked for the death penalty!), but wanted to kill somebody white first.
“I was thinking that the first person I see this morning that looks white, I’m killing them,” he said. According to the local news report, the convicted rapist said he did not approach an older white woman walking through the garage “because she had already lived her life.”
“I wanted to kill somebody who lived a lily-white lifestyle and was a closet bigot,” he said on the tape.
Grant told a detective on the video he chose Russ-Carriero after she thrust a stairwell door toward him as he was walking inside the garage.
“I have no remorse whatsoever, because she was white,” he said, adding that he believed he was fighting a race war.
During his statement, Grant claimed his mother was raped by whites when he was a child and that even his white friends have all turned out to be racists —WND.com
Our country, Obamafied or not will not be comfortable with our own hatred, fear, misunderstanding and evil for many decades to come. Until we’re all a bunch of pacifist mulattos and Kum-Ba-Ya becomes the National Anthem with Ghandi’s face on the $1 instead of George Washington’s racist ass, there’s going to be problems such as this. And still with all of that on my mind, I decided to ignore the latest cause for public concern and started getting my crazy Gotham News posts together for the week….but something just kept tugging at me.
The tug pulled at me full force when I logged on Twitter the next day and saw virtually NO ONE talking about the Trayvon Martin tragedy on my timeline. Here are there maybe, 3 or 4 out of damn near 600 friends may mention something or retweet something about Trayvon but it was as if this issue, wasn’t an issue. None of my peers, nobody at work, no one at rehearsal, it felt as if NO ONE was talking about Trayvon Martin in my everyday life like I had expected them to and it really sort of irked me a bit. Does anyone still talk about Troy Davis? Sean Bell? The Angola 3? The Jena 6? Hell, I remember the day before Troy Davis was executed I’m in a rehearsal with another play, it was a bunch of white people in the cast. I brought the case up and they had zero clue of who or what I was talking about. The sh!t hit me like a diarhea brick and the feeling was just as sick.
KONY, though previously reported on for years by many news sites but not brought to prominence until a week ago flooded my timeline for all of TWO DAYS before disappearing. Troy Davis was hot for like a day. The trend just starting becoming too apparent…a cause pops up, we chat, we complain, we bitch, we moan, we act, we chill, we fight, we raise hell, we settle down and it is eventually forgotten…fades to ‘black’ (pun intended). We forget that by letting one of these altercations slide without justice, without open dialogue, understanding and eventual resolve, we open the door for future issues of this nature to be taken less seriously. Certain constructs are established in our society, like cops don’t stop killing black men, because cops rarely ever get in trouble for killing black men.
DID YOU KNOW?: That back in the 50s, cops would enter black neighborhoods…find a random guy and pin a charge on him just so they could keep their books up? They’d beat that young black man into admitting a crime he didn’t commit. This basically started the culture of the black man running from the police, back then he had reason to even when he did nothing wrong
When I was growing up, your average black guy in the hood will tell you that he didn’t talk to white girls, not necessarily because he isn’t attracted to them (these days white girls got ass!), but primarily because he’s wasn’t trying to “catch a charge.” From birth, we see how Emmet Till’s spirit lives on and OJ’s path still hurts as the slightest thing we, as black men are accused of, if it’s an accusation of harm or tampering with “the white man’s” pride and joy, will always leave us with the harshest of sentences, with or without proof. This isn’t me making up some stuff to piss off white people, pull race cards or point fingers, I’m just telling my (and many black men’s) experiences that don’t get talked about enough. And, no..I have NOO problem with interracial relationships, the more the better. Issues that hurt don’t get talked about enough, race relations don’t get talked about enough…
….I miss The Dave Chappelle Show because, much like Richard Pryor did for his generation, he let us laugh and talk about the sensitive weak spots in our country’s armor that AREN’T TALKED ABOUT ENOUGH. Compared to the Red Fox’s and the Richard Pryor’s today’s comedians are some pussies when it comes to hot button issues.
Keeping the spirit alive of one unjust situation , especially ones that justice never comes for, keeps a momentum of truth flowing that eventually cannot be ignored. We can’t ever stop talking about the Sean Bells or the Tupac’s until justice happens, answers come, remorse is earned, understanding is planted and change occurs. If we keep ignoring and forgetting the issues, they are no longer seen as issues but become accepted as normalities. We keep ignoring or forgetting the real and we all become “KONY” and Trayvon Martin ends up being the true #InvisibleChild.
After realizing all of this and deciding that even if this blog post is blog number 9,565,478,977,445,998 it STILL MATTERS because our voices can NOT stop on these matters, I then stumble across this nonsense from Fox News veteran Glenn Beck’s website THE BLAZE, written by right winger associate editor Mytheos Holt
We’re also learning more about Trayvon Martin. According to reporters he had been suspended from school. The International Business Times says Martin’s suspension was due to last for 10 days. But what exactly was he suspended for in the first place? Sources sympathetic to Martin say he was suspended for “excessive tardiness.” However, a quick review of both the local policies for Martin’s school, the Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School, and of the Miami-Dade school district’s district-wide policies, raise some doubts.– The Blaze
Throughout his article he basically tries to discredit Trayvon Martin’s character by wanting people to take a closer look at his possible “criminal background.” Without explicitly saying it, his story hit me as him trying to give a reason for why it would’ve been “ok” if this 17 year old kid was shot if he had a history of being a “criminal.” Which brings me back to….say it with me now…
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD A KID BE KILLED IN COLD BLOOD.
Holt wants to keep his job, so of course he can’t straight up say what the point of his article is, but hey…if you go on a Fox News message board or The Blaze message, there’s enough white right wingers that basically play Pinnochio to his Gepeto. The Huffington Post caught some of them before the comments were deleted.
“”GOOD SHOT ZIMMY. lol”
“i’m just glad Zimmerman didnt miss and hit an innocent bystander,” said another.
This is pure B.S I want to see the kids police record even if something is expounged also why was he removed from facebook it says account terminated. Why because his parents are trying to cover his tracks just like if you hit a bus they see Dollar signs.People have dragged data about Zimmerman out where is the kids past.Don’t say he was a good boy prove it.Ask yourself what is more likely to happen any 17 year old kid when you ask a question.A smartass reply I have never and I mean never seen a teenager run unless he did something wrong.I guess no crinimal has ever cased a place when they went to a store. It takes me aback the way all these facts are quoted by people who read one story on a issue.===HuffPost
This is what really pissed me off. I can’t believe that there are people out there, with no regard for life to the point that an unarmed teenager being killed by a much taller, heavier, armed and at the time thought to be WHITE man is ok, as long as the boy was a threat…or rather, as long as the boy seemed menacing…or rather, as long as the boy was (you know where I’m going with this…) BLACK.
For those of you that don’t know anything about the Trayvon Martin case and have read this much and haven’t googled the kid’s story yet for yourselves, here’s the Spark Notes on it. The kid ran to his corner store to get some Skittles and an Arizona Ice-T. When 28 year old hispanic/white George Zimmerman begins following him thinking he looks “suspicious.” Zimmerman is the SELF APPOINTED neighborhood super cop and of course if something or someone looks suspicious to him, approaching it AGAINST the order of the police, with a gun is the best plan of action. He called 911 and told them he was following Martin, the operator told him to stop following the kid and in the midst of saying “These assholes (see: blacks) always get away” and “F**king coons (see: niggers) “ he eventually gets off the phone and takes matters into his own hands (see: murder).
“This guy looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs or something,” Zimmerman tells the 911 operator. “He’s just staring, looking at all the houses. Now he’s coming toward me. He’s got his hand in his waistband. Something’s wrong with him.”
Zimmerman continues: “He’s coming to check me out. He’s got something in his hands. I don’t know what his deal is. Can we get an officer over here?”
“These assholes always get away,” he says later to the operator. Zimmerman is then heard giving directions to the dispatcher.
“Shit, he’s running,” Zimmerman says.
“Are you following him?” the dispatcher asks.
“Yes,” Zimmerman responds.
“We don’t need you to do that,” the dispatcher says.
Zimmerman continued to pursue Martin, and moments later other calls started coming in to 911. Neighbors reported hearing screams, cries for help and then gunfire. Some sobbed as they talked about a dead boy and a man standing over him. In one recording, the sounds of wailing and what seem to be pleas for help and “No! No!” can be heard.—HuffPost
Screams and gunshots are heard and the kid is dead. Zimmerman claims it was in self defense…or according to him his big ass was “violently attacked” by the much smaller Martin and because Florida’s law permits him to kill a kid if it’s in self defense this d!ck is never arrested. He still isn’t arrested. Oh, and might I add the part about him saying “f**kin coons” was left out of early reports of this story, hell…the 911 calls took weeks to surface all the while Zimmerman gets to kick it at his house sipping margaritas.
According to a witness, the police didn’t even take her seriously when she tried to explain that she didn’t hear a scuffle of any sorts, just screams and shot. She said the police sided with Zimmerman from the get go (no one in the black community is surprised by this).
In the days after the shooting, witnesses have said they had trouble reaching the police to give their statements. Others would say that investigators twisted their testimony to fit a self-defense theory, asked leading questions during questioning and that, on the night of the killing, investigators peppered Zimmerman with questions before he could tell his story.
“It was self-defense,” one witness said an investigator mouthed at the scene. —HuffPost
Did I mention that the cops THOUGHT he was a white man and identified him as white, much later Zimmerman’s family started stating that he’s hispanic. This is some twisted irony. Hispanic kills a black and the white police officers side with him because he’s light enough to pass for white…wow.
The proof begins to surface that the “violent” Trayvon Martin, wearing the “suspicious” hoodie and his hands close to himself as he walked, was really on the phone with his 16 year old girlfriend the entire time.
“He said this man was watching him, so he put his hoodie on. He said he lost the man….I asked Trayvon to run, and he said he was going to walk fast. I told him to run but he said he was not going to run.”—ABC News.
She then heard Trayvon say to the man, “What are you following me for?” The man then reportedly said, “What are you doing around here?” The girl said she believes somebody then pushed Martin because she heard his earpiece fall, and then the line went dead.—The LA Times
Turns out Trayvon was minding his own business, Zimmerman started following him (because he was black), Martin tries to get away and Zimmerman kills him in cold blood (because he was BLACK). And somewhere a right winged editorialist is suppose to get me to give a flying American bald eagle f*ck about some damn highschool supension?!
“What we have now is several witnesses saying the same thing: that Zimmerman was the aggressor, that he followed him and pursued him and at some point was on top of him,” Rand said. “If you’re trying to use a claim of self-defense, you can’t be the one chasing, you can’t be chasing the person that you say is being aggressive against you.”
And Zimmerman still isn’t arrested. The question is: Why? My answer will keep being: Because Trayvon is black. Of course, the answer on paper is because Florida’s dumba$$ laws, but the common and obvious question keeps surfacing…if the roles were reversed, if the white police officers came on the scene and it was a black man that had shot and killed a little white boy or white girl, would he still be walking free? Would he still be walking anywhere? I mean hell, MICHAEL VICK was instantly arrested and sentenced to real time for killing a dog and you mean to tell me we can’t at least cuff this Zimmerman dude for murdering a minor? What’s that say about us? Our worth?
In the wake of Martin’s death, the law is getting a second look. State Sen. Oscar Braynon, who represents Miami Gardens where the teen lived with his mother, called for hearings or a select committee to clarify what constitutes self-defense under the law. He said that since the law was enacted in 2005, the number of justified homicides in the state has skyrocketed. In 2005, there were 43 such cases; in 2009, the last complete year available, there were 105, Braynon said.
“I think there is vigilante justice happening and I think people are getting shot,” he said. “This is an unintended consequence of the law.”— USATODAY
“It is the fact that Zimmerman ignored the 911 operator’s advice not to follow Martin that former Sen. Peaden says disqualifies him from claiming self-defense under the law.
The guy lost his defense right then,” Peaden told the Miami Herald. “When he said ‘I’m following him,’ he lost his defense.” —CBS NEWS–
After all of this proof and evidence that still surfacing to this very day why is this man still walking free? With almost a million signatures to the online petition calling for SOME action to be taken toward Zimmerman, why is he not at the very least arrested right now? Detained SOMEWHERE? I’ve been kept in jail for not paying TRAFFIC tickets, I mean for DAYS over that nonsense and you mean to tell me that a white looking hispanic (#lateedit: turns out he’s half white and half hispanic) man gets to just shoot black kids and still be able to catch the new season of True Blood when it comes out this summer?
It may seem like I’m saying this in jest, but in all seriousness I’m trying to shed light on the fact that this man is FREE to do anything he pleases right now, while a 17 year old boy, the kid didn’t even reach the age to drink, buy cigarettes, go to college, make bad decisions, get married, have children and possibly be one of the chosen few of us to succeed at our dreams, all of this gets ripped from existance in an instant while this cat Zimmerman, is FREE to wipe his ass, pick his nose and continue to lie to himself in the mirror, forcing himself to believe that he couldn’t have at least knocked the kid out. I’m not for him beating up a kid that he basically stalked, but if he wanted his story to have any weight, a murder wasn’t the way to go for it to make any remote sense. But hey, hate doesn’t make sense anyway right? This was a HATE crime plain and simple, no matter how long the government takes to feed the media more crap to tell us in order to smooth things over and hope we eventually forget about this….like we do everything else.
Emmet Till was lynched by a bunch of white men at the age of 14. Martin was 17, so I guess America is progressing just fine right?
“It’s not about these individual acts of racism, It’s about the way that black males are framed in the larger culture … as being violent, criminal and threats to safety and property.” —-Mark Neal, a professor of African and African American Studies at Duke University.
There was a Million Hoodie Walk in New York the other day that drew hundreds of people dressed in hoodies, marching the streets of New York in support of the family of Trayvon Martin, who just happened to be in town.
Tracy Martin said he and his son’s mother found out about the march after arriving in New York City, where they have done interviews about the case. They got in touch with the organizers to say they would attend and speak to the crowd.
The timing of the teen’s parents being in the city when the march was happening was “incredible,” said one of the organizers, Daniel Maree, who heard about the case earlier this week.
“I was outraged and wanted to do something about it,” Maree said
On Wednesday night, demonstrators chanted “we want arrests” during the Million Hoodie March in Manhattan’s Union Square.
The teen’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, told the crowd: “My heart is in pain, but to see the support of all of you really makes a difference.”

The most recent news to come out about this story is directed at the police chief whose own people had to basically throw him under the bus for being so stupid as to just jump to the conclusion that a black guy dead by a white guy’s gun meant the white guy was right. Everything points to him losing his job, which he’s only held for 10 months.
“If it was self-defense, why was he [Zimmerman] on Trayvon’s back?” one of the witnesses, Mary Cutcher, told CNN in an interview. City Commissioners Patty Mahany and Randy Jones argued against the no-confidence vote, saying the city needed to wait for the outcomes of a grand jury inquiry scheduled for April 10 and a Department of Justice investigation. “A rush to judgment in any situation is wrong,” said Mahany, calling the no-confidence motion a “knee-jerk reaction.” Only the city manager, Bonaparte, can fire Lee or ask for his resignation, and he gave no indication he planned to do so. But as speaker after speaker, black and white, took to the microphone to question why Zimmerman had not been arrested, it was clear that Bonaparte faced pressure that showed no sign of diminishing.
“My son did not deserve to die,” the teen’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, told the crowd, AP reported. “My heart is in pain, but to see the support of all of you really makes a difference.”
More than a dozen people spoke at the Sanford meeting, the overwhelming majority of them black city residents complaining that the Police Department was quick to arrest blacks while letting whites accused of similar offenses go free. Several speakers described arbitrary arrests and harassment by police.
“I was born and raised in Sanford, and I’ve had this problem plenty of times,” said Robin Riggins, a black woman
The previous chief was forced out after an outcry over the beating of a black man in downtown Sanford by a white man who is a police officer’s son. The police did not arrest the man, even though the beating was captured on video— THE LA TIMES
The bottom line is man should not have the power of God. I remember going to hear the poet Sunny Patterson speak at my college one year #DU. She stated that she believed the world would be a better place without guns and that even the police shouldn’t have guns. At the time, I thought this was a crazy notion seeing that it’s impossible imagining a world without firearms because we’ve been trained to believe that this is our only protection against each other….when you sit back and digest the fact that we believe that a weapon that can end a life faster than we can think to blink or regret ‘blinking’, is the “only” way we can protect ourselves from one another, you realize how far we need to grow as a society. Yes, I know at this point guns aren’t going anywhere, hell the governments that run every section of this world have far worse things at their disposal these days than a ‘simple’ gun, but the point can’t be ignored. In Florida, since this “Stand Your Ground” law was put in place, allowing anybody to kill another person if it’s in “self defense,” Florida’s “self defense” pleas and “murders” have shot through the roof…..anybody surprised by this?
Much like the death penalty, laws giving man the power of God should never be passed because, just like the death penalty, these laws leave no room for error. THIS is why voting is so important. Even though Zimmerman isn’t jailed, even if/when he gets arrested and even if he gets sentenced to life in prison or the death penalty, none of these punishments will give Trayvon Martin his life back. He didn’t experience all that life had to offer and his parents will never see the full potential of their offspring all because we’re granting power that we shouldn’t have the power to grant. Humans are error machines if you didn’t know, our pencils NEED erasers.
Yes, I understand the need for protection, people are crazy and the flaws of man can’t be ignored. If a 6’5″ 300 pound muscle head is trying to rob you and you’re only 5’5″ 130, a weapon of some kind IS needed, but does the ammunition HAVE to be lethal? With all of the technology we have in the world where an I-Phone has an app that it can scale the amount of weed you set on top of it, a television can talk back to you and invisible cloth is being created, I’m more than sure we could figure out a way to make some non lethal ammunition that can knock someone out instead of serving them heaven on a hotdog….rubber bullets do hurt right?
We can’t let this this Trayvon Martin Tragedy just fall by the wayside and be forgotten. He is our little brother and I’m saying this not just to the “black community” but to the entire “community.” He is our little brother and all I’m asking everyone to do is keep his name in your mouths and on your keyboards. Until justice is served and George Zimmerman is not only arrested, but charged and incarcerated with a life sentence, keep his hash tags on your timeline and his face on your news feeds. Blog about it, tumblr about it, rally, march and pray about it. Just don’t forger about it. I don’t care how annoying it gets to some ignorant folk that “follow” you or how tired some people get of hearing the boy’s name, make them tired of it. Make everyone tired of it because at this point we should be tired. Tired of being fed the same old left overs of b.s that’s been marinating since the ’60s. How many “accidents” are we going to let fly? I’m starting to realize that the real reason I ignored this story in the beginning was because I knew it would piss me off, I knew it would be the same old sh!t and I knew it wouldn’t be the last time I’d be pissed off by this familiar fecal of a matter. That sucks knowing that no matter how hard we fight, this will not be the last story like this that surfaces….but depending upon the strength in the power of which we fight this one time can, a difference can be made. The power is always in the numbers. The numbers need to do more, earlier I expressed that voting is important when looking at issues like this because the same people pissed in Florida are the same people who voted for this asinine law to be put in place…but that’s a whole other story (or is it?). Don’t shoot the messenger, find the root of the message. I’m honestly not the biggest voter, but this has truly opened my eyes to it’s obvious significance.
In our fast food lives, the media will have a new “hot button” big story by the end of the week dripping with sensation juice and propaganda sauce. They figure we’ve already ingested, digested and defecated this ‘problem’ and a fresh batch of gooey gossip filled goodness will be ready to dispatch to quench our A.D.D based appetites. Let’s prove them wrong, let ’em know that we’re not done with what’s currently on our plates. This ‘meal’ should take awhile to digest, hell as a community we should be constipated by now anyway. Personally I’m going to a couple rallies and I’m planning on speaking in the local schools about the situation and any march that pops up,I’m there as should you. While voting for certain laws to be changed is what we need, awareness is how we get there. I understand that life moves fast,so even if you can’t physically be any place to support this,at least give a daily minute of your time (if you can’t march for a nigga,at least click for him). Let’s “Stand Our Ground” for a change, even if it’s just hashtagging #TrayvonMartin ONCE a day on your Twitter timeline and Facebook statuses. That’s the challenge I make to anyone that comes across this blog post. If you’re unable to do anything else but show support through the net,do that…it’s better than talking without any action (see: bullsh!ttin). First off sign the petition and secondly, write his name at least once a day on whatever social media vehicle you prefer, just to keep the boy in the stream of America’s conscience. If I can get the almost 600 friends on my TL to at least do it and the near 2000 friends on the @GumboMonster twitter page to follow suit, then ANYONE that reads this one out of a million Trayvon Martin blogs should be able to get their followers to do the same….or at least try to. Even if you don’t see this as an issue of race, the fact that this is wrong no matter the “colors” present should be enough, this is a human rights issue. The longer we let crap like this slide, pile up and slide again, the more blood we’re accumulating on our own hands. Don’t mean to guilt trip you but (well maybe a little), there’s no way a murdered soul can truly rest in peace without justice. I’m tired of being black and only being able to identify with the red in the red, white and blue, aren’t you? Obama is…
President Barack Obama spoke out Friday on the Trayvon Martin shooting for the first time, calling the incident a “tragedy” and invoking his own children.
“I can only imagine what these parents are going through,” the president said, adding that he couldn’t help but think about his daughters. “I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this.
“My main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin,” he added. “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon. I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and we’re going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.”
The president said he was pleased to hear that Florida Gov. Rick Scott has appointed a task force to look into the incident.
“I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen,”—The Miami Herald
RIP #TrayvonMartin …it won’t be in vain.
Just my $0.02 to life’s $0.98….
